William Samuel Somers,III

William Samuel “Sammy” Somers, III, 87, of Reidsville, went to be with the Lord Friday July 20, 2018 at the Hospice Home of Rockingham County.

Funeral services will be conducted 2:00 P.M. Monday July 23, 2018 in Citty Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will be in Roselawn Memorial Gardens. The family will see friends Monday July 23, 2018 at Citty Funeral Home 1:00 till 2:00 P.M. one hour before the service.

A native of Rockingham County, he was a son of the late William Samuel Somers, Jr. and the late Isie Owen Somers Jones and had lived in Rockingham County his entire life. He was a retired supervisor at American Tobacco Co., a US Army veteran of the Korean Conflict and a member of Reidsville Christian Church. Sammy was preceded in death by a half-sister: Ann Landra Adkins.

Survivors include his wife Alma Letchworth Somers of the home, sons: William Keith Somers and wife Denise of Reidsville, and Perry Dean Somers and wife Bonita of Charlotte, step-brother: Joseph Shepherd of Virginia, half-sister: Penny Sue Jones, grandchildren: Brian K. Somers and wife Jennifer, Michael B. Somers, Morgan D. Somers, and Lindsey Strudick and husband Matt, great grandchildren: Michael Bray Somers, Sami Ree Somers, Jett Somers, Presley Somers, Zoe Strudwick and Will Studwick.
