William Lawrence "W.L" McKinney

William Lawrence “W.L.” McKinney, 77, of Reidsville, went to be with the Lord Thursday April 13, 2023 at Wake Forest University Baptist Hospital in Winston-Salem, NC Funeral services will be conducted 2:00 P.M. Monday April 17, 2023 in Thompsonville Baptist Church with pastor Gary Clark officiating. The family will see friends 1:00 P.M. till 2:00 P.M. before the service at Thompsonville Baptist Church. At other times the family will be at the residence. A native of Rockingham County, he was a son of the late Walker and Sallie Gilliam McKinney and had lived in Rockingham County his entire life. W.L. was a member of Thompsonville Baptist Church and was a former employee of Viking Sprinkler Co. He enjoyed riding his motorcycle, daily visits to Reid’s House Restaurant, boating and water skiing, his family was the light of his life. He was preceded in death by his wife: Judith Kirkman McKinney, his son: Billy McKinney, and a brother: Darrell Scearce. Survivors include his daughters: Sherron Roach (Brooks), Deneen Joyce Smith, and Sonya McKinney all of Reidsville, daughter-in-law: Lisa McKinney (Woody) of Reidsville, brother: Donnie McKinney (Susan) of Reidsville, grandchildren: Brooks Roach III (Juliana), Josh Clifton, Jessica Whaley, Levi Moore (Keri) Shannon McKinney, Geena Matthews, Sydney Zimmerman (Brandon) and Brooke-Shea McKinney, seven great grandchildren.
