The loss is immeasurable, but so is the love left behind. William Lanham “Bill” Higdon, 101, of Reidsville, went to be with the Lord Monday August 30, 2021 at his home. A private funeral mass will be conducted at Holy Infant Catholic Church. Burial will be at Evergreen Memory Gardens with military rites. Individuals may come by Citty Funeral Home on Wednesday between 8:00 A.M. and 6:00 P.M. to sign the register and show their respects. A native of Owensboro, KY, he was a son of the late Lewis and Elizabeth Lanham Higdon and had lived in Reidsville since 1970 moving here from Louisville, KY. He was a retired supervisor at American Tobacco Co. and a member of Holy Infant Catholic Church. Dad loved spending time with family, especially his grandchildren and great grandchildren. Bill was preceded in death by his wife: Mildred F. Higdon and a grandson: W. Alex Reynolds, two brothers and three sisters. Mr. Higdon was a proud US Army WWII Veteran, where he served in the Asiatic-Pacific and the European-African and Middle Eastern Theaters. He was the oldest veteran in Rockingham County. Survivors include his sons: Billy L. Higdon (June), and Kenneth W. Higdon (Bonnie) both of Louisville, KY, Gerald T. Higdon (Brenda) and Mark A. Higdon, both of Reidsville, daughters: Sherri H. Parks (Steve), Denise H. Pegram (Mark) and Cindy H. Briggs (Danny) all of Reidsville, sister: Evelyn Jo Cecil of Owensboro, KY, grandchildren: Lanny Higdon (Kelly), Jeremy Higdon, Kenneth Higdon, Jordan Higdon, Rebekah Pegram, William Higdon, Jon Daniel Briggs, James Briggs, and Meredith Pegram, great grandchildren: Grey Higdon, Phoebe Higdon, and Myles Higdon. Memorials may be sent to Hospice of Rockingham County P.O. Box 281 Wentworth, NC 27375.
