Virginia Ann Griffin Soyars, 92, went to be with her Lord on Thursday, March 21, 2024, at Ancora Compassionate Care (Formerly Gibson House Rockingham Co. Hospice).
Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 AM Wednesday, March 27, 2024, at Citty Funeral Home with Rev. Dennis Chapmon officiating. Burial will follow in Roselawn Memorial Gardens.
A native of Rockingham Co., she was a daughter of the late John Vincent and Lydia Page Griffin and she had lived most of her life in the Bethlehem Church Community of Rockingham Co. Mrs. Soyars was a member of Mt. Hermon Baptist Church, a retired seamstress with Peeble’s Dept. Store and Globeman’s Dept. Store in Eden. She enjoyed traveling and she was well known for her painting.
Mrs. Soyars was preceded in death by her parents, her husband: James Melvin Soyars, her daughter: Evelyn S. Garrett, her brothers: Vincent Odell Griffin and Reid Johnson Griffin and sisters: Jane Griffin Sharp and Juanita G. Rodgers.
She is survived by her son: Mark Tryon Soyars, her sister: Katie G. Rice, her granddaughters: Brittany Angell (Michael), Amanda Gardner (Nick), Kendel Garrett, and Jennifer Garrett, her great grandchildren: Xander Pulliam, Anthony Pulliam, and Theodore Gardner.
