Virginia Cox Dyer, 90, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, September 18, 2024, at Annie Penn Hospital.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 PM Monday, September 23, 2024, at Bethel Baptist Church in Eden with Pastor Darrell Boles officiating and burial will follow in the Aaron/ Newnam family cemetery on Dickerson Road in Ruffin. The family will see friends from 1:00 PM till 2:00 PM Monday, September 23, 2024, at the church.
A native of Rockingham Co., she was a daughter of the late Robert Henry and Dora Carroll Cox and she had lived most of her life in Rockingham Co. She was a member of Bethel Baptist Church and a retired Registered Nurse. Virginia had worked at Danville Regional Hospital and at Dominion Home Health Care. She was preceded in death by her husbands: Bobby Wray Newnam, Daniel Robinson and Rev. Johnny Dyer, her brothers: George D. Cox and Fred Cox, and her sisters: Lois Gentry, Vivian Riddle, Hilda Hundley, and Coleen Austin.
Surviving are her sons: Kenneth Robbin Newnam (Jo) of Reidsville, Henry Dale Newnam (Tanya) of Waco, TX and Mark Albert Newnam (Belinda) of Palmetto, FL, her daughter: Jewel Van Abel (Robert) of Fayetteville, sister: Betty Collie of Cary, 6 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren. Citty Funeral Home is assisting the Newnam family.
