Tina Patterson Rose

It is with the heaviest of hearts that we announce the passing of our dearest mother, Tina Itaska Patterson Rose.  She was surrounded by family and special friends when she was called home. 

Born on July 25, 1949, Tina blessed us with 76 years of life.  Tina was born to the late Eva Tassalue Gillespie and James Oliver Patterson.  She grew up in Reidsville, NC, with five other siblings in a home built by her father’s hands.  Tina was the baby of her family.  She was preceded in death by two of her brothers, Tony Patterson and OT Patterson, as well as by her son Brandon James Rose.  She has three surviving siblings; sisters Ms. Dorraine Hewett, Ms. Patsy Vass, and a brother, Mr. Mikey Patterson. 

Raised Jehovah Witness, faith was a cornerstone of her family, and Tina attended Kingdom Hall throughout her life.  She was secure in her faith and clung to Jehovah until her passing.  In attempting to describe Tina, many words come to mind.  Faith, love, warmth, compassion, and grace, to name a few.  Laughter though, is what many knew her for.  It was a contagious emotion that spread happiness to others.  Her friends and loved ones can all recount that Ms. Tina drew joy from making others laugh. 

Tina devoted 26 years as an employee of the Rockingham Department of Social Services.  While there, she made many lifelong friends, shared numerous laughs, and hysterical moments. 

Tina leaves behind the father of her children, and love of her life, Mr Frankie Junior Rose.  When remembering Tina, Frankie said “Your mother was always smiling!”  They had three children together, Heather Rose Bennett, Meghann Rose McKinney, and the late Brandon James Rose.  They were raised to be moral, loving, lighthearted, to be present in life’s special moments, and Tina’s emphasis on strong family ties will be passed down. 

Tina was an impeccable mother, with an unwavering love for family and friends.  She leaves behind seven grandchildren; Erin Barton, Alex Bennett, Matthew Bennett, Michael Rose, John Rose, Zach Rose, and Juliana Holt.  She also had one great grandchild, Emerald Barton.  Tina’s lasting legacy for her family is, and will be, the importance of strong family ties, love, and forgiveness. 

Tina suffered, and truly never recovered from the loss of her only son, Brandon.  Though the pain was profoundly deep and she was completely heartbroken, despite her sorrow she showed remarkable strength.  Her journey is a testament of a life lived for others, and she can rest easy, now that she has surely found peace. 

Services will be held at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses  901 Ashley Loop Rd in Reidsville   N.C. on Saturday October 11, 2025 at 2:00 p.m.
