Sarah Jane (Rudd) Prook

Sarah Jane Rudd Prook, 77, passed away peacefully on Monday, May 4, 2026, at the Penn Nursing Center. She was a woman who said what she meant, loved deeply, and left a mark on everyone fortunate enough to know her.

Funeral Services will be conducted at 2:00 PM Thursday, May 7, 2026, in Citty Funeral Home chapel with Rev. Christi Taylor officiating. Private burial will follow in Mebane, NC. The family will receive friends from 1:00 PM until 2:00 PM Thursday, May 7, 2026, at Citty Funeral Home, and at other times they will be at the residence.

A native of Alamance County, she was the daughter of the late William Daniel Rudd, Jr. and the late Sarah Gill Rudd, and she lived in Reidsville most of her life. Sarah Jane was a member of First Presbyterian Church, the Reidsville Garden Club, and the Reidsville Junior Service League. Prior to her retirement, she served as an office administrator in several medical offices. She was preceded in death by her parents and by her brother and sister-in-law, William Daniel Rudd, III and Anne Lindsey Rudd.

In her retirement, Sarah Jane poured her heart into the things she loved most — nurturing her garden, creating beautiful floral arrangements with an artist's eye, and crafting unique jewelry by hand. She was straightforward and strong-willed, and her children never had to wonder where they got their stubborn streak. To her grandchildren, she was simply "Gran" — a loving presence whose warmth they will carry in their hearts forever.

She is survived by her husband, Danny Prook; her sons, Ted Jones of Wynne, AR and Justin Jones (Brink) of Davidson; her daughter, Sarah Elizabeth Smith (Jeff) of Huntersville; grandchildren Cort Jones, Cayden Jones, Tayla Jones, Will Jones, Emma Jones, Lola Smith, Jack Smith, and Cooper Smith; and her beloved Schnauzer, Gracie.

The family asks that memorials be made to the Penn Nursing Center, 618 S. Main St., Reidsville, NC 27320. Citty Funeral Home is assisting the Prook family, and the service will be live streamed.
