Sarah Camry F. (Slayton) Evans

Sarah Camry F. Slayton Evans, 36, went to be with her Lord on Tuesday, November 14, 2023.

A  Memorial Service will be conducted at 2:00 PM on Saturday, December 2, 2023, at Osborne Baptist Church.

A native of Rockingham County, most recently residing in Ruffin, NC. She was a daughter of Bobbie Jean Blair Slayton and the late Glen Cameron Slayton.  Sarah was a member of Osborne Baptist Church; she earned her undergraduate degree from UNC Charlotte and her Master’s Degree from NCA&T.  She was the Department Chair of Business Technologies as well as an Assistant Professor of Business Administration at Rockingham Community College.

Sarah loved her two sons dearly and was a devoted wife, mother, daughter, big sister and friend.  People who knew her would describe her as faith and family centered, loyal, charismatic, and a woman of action.  When creating memories with her family, she loved to be outdoors, including camping at the beach.  It was important to her to give back, by volunteering in various community outreach programs.  She brought joy and left a lasting impact on everyone she met. 

She was preceded in death by her father, Glen Cameron Slayton.  Those left to cherish her memory include her husband, Benjamin Blake Evans, her sons, Silas Blake Evans and Briar Slayton Evans her mother, Bobbie Jean Slayton, her sister, Gloria Christian Slayton, her brother, Cameron Gean Slayton (Tori) and her nana, Sarah Elizabeth Blair.

In lieu of flowers and monetary donations, the family requests that you volunteer your time to Meals on Wheels, the Reidsville Soup Kitchen or to read to children in your local community.
