Ruth Sands Mathews

Ruth Sands Mathews 92 went to be with her Lord on September 5, 2020, at her home. A graveside service will be conducted at 11:00 AM Tuesday September 8, 2020, at Roselawn Memorial Gardens. Due to the COVID19 Pandemic, Social Distancing and wearing masks or face covering are encouraging.   There will be no formal visitation. You may come by and sign the register and pay your respects on Monday September 7, 2020. A native of Rockingham Co. she was the daughter of the late Everette and Ruth Lillie Lewis Sands and she had lived in the Wentworth Community most of her life.  Ruth was a graduate of Wentworth High School, and a member of Shady Grove Baptist Church.  She was a former employee of Macfield and worked some as a nurse’s aide, but mostly a housewife. She loved gardening and growing flowers. Ruth was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Joe Mathews Sr., son Joe Jr. “Tommy”, a sister; Frances Tate and a brother; Henry Sands. Surviving is a daughter;  Cathy Mutarelli (Thomas) of Reidsville, a brother;  Harold Sands (Lois) of Reidsville; 3 grandchildren: Jennifer, Julie and Joy; 4 great grandchildren: Christina, Travis, Jordan and Hazel; 3 great great grandchildren: Erin, Michelle and Jasper.
