Ruth Johnston Cummings

It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Ruth Johnston Cummings of Reidsville, NC who passed away on Saturday April 30, 2022 at Brookdale Assisted Living of Reidsville.

Graveside services will be conducted 11:00 A.M. Wednesday in Roselawn Memorial Gardens with The Order of Eastern Star rites.

She was a retiree of American Tobacco Co. and a member of College Park Baptist Church. Ruth was a member of The Order of the Eastern Star and had been involved with numerous other civic organizations throughout her life. She enjoyed traveling, visiting all fifty states, sewing, gardening, crocheting, and quilting.  She was preceded in death by her parents; James Arthur Johnston and Letha Mae Parker Johnston, her husband of 55 years: David Jarrett Cummings, her siblings: Harold Johnston, Calvin Johnston (Betty), Dwight Johnston, Clyde Johnston, Helen Tickle (Garland), Mary Wike, and brother-in-law: Tom Inman.

Survivors include her daughters: Patricia “Patsy” Brown (Robert), and Sheryl Prillaman (Tim), her sons: Steve Cummings (Barbara), and Daryl Cummings, her grandchildren: Jeffrey Brown, Robyn Young (Brad), Danielle Odell (John), Derrick Cummings, Victoria Torn (Josh), Caroline Cummings, and Macy Roberts, her great grandchildren: Chase Cummings, Hadyn Cummings, Havannah Cummings, and Landon Young, sisters: Shirley Roberts (Wayne), Gladys Inman, sister-in-law: Ester Copeland, special friend: Becky Shreve, and a host of nieces and nephews.
