Ricky Lee Bates, 64 of Reidsville, went to be with the Lord Friday August 30, 2024 at Eden Rehabilitation and Healthcare Center in Eden, NC

Graveside memorial services will be conducted 11:00 A.M. Tuesday September 10, 2024 in Lively Stones Baptist Church Cemetery with Pastor Robert “Bob” Eberling officiating.

A native of Danville, VA, he was a son of the late Millard Lee and Shirley Cox Bates and had lived in Reidsville most of his life. He was a retired farm helper for a local horse farm and was an accomplished keyboard player, musician and vocalist. Ricky was preceded in death by his father: Millard Lee Bates, his mother: Shirley Cox Solomon, a brother: Larry Dean Bates and uncles: Edward Thomas “Tommy” Cox and Bobby Cox.

Survivors include his niece: Tabatha Durham of Ruffin, Uncle: Homer “Sonny” Cox of Lynchburg, VA, aunts: Betty Cox Wall and Sadie Cox both of Reidsville, Ann Woody of South Boston, VA, his close friends Jan Wheless (Bob) and Kathy Gentle who were his caregivers and a number of loving cousins.
