Rev. Donald Leroy Harrell, Sr., 85, peacefully met his Savior face-to-face on Monday, June 18, 2018. He was surrounded by his loving family. "Papa Don, Brother Don and Preacher," as he was known by many, loved people and always wanted to share the Gospel and love of Jesus. He was born and raised in Reidsville. He proudly served our country in the Army, Army Reserves and Navy Reserves. He attended Elon College and later Greensboro Bible Institute and joined their staff as a Bible teacher. He pastored Tabernacle Baptist Church (Reidsville) and Faith Baptist (Bassett, VA). He was also a missionary to the Choctaw and Cherokee tribes in Okla. He enjoyed mentoring young pastors,  camp meetings, revivals, reading and playing golf as often as he could. He loved special times with his family for Sunday lunches. More than anything, he was faithfully devoted to his Lord and Savior.

He was preceded in death by his first wife: Becki Hundley Harrell, his second wife: Sarah Gayle Harrell, parents: William and Bertha Harrell, brothers: Jesse, Robert and Joe,  sister: Virginia and granddaughter: Tamara Turner.

Funeral services will be conducted 11:00 Friday June 22, 2018 at Freedom Baptist Church 471 Stone Rd. Reidsville, NC. Burial will be in Evergreen Memory Gardens with military rites.

He is survived by a son: Don Harrell, Jr., daughters:  Angel Harrell King (Rich) of Raleigh and Tina Michelle Hall (Mike) of Reidsville,  grandchildren: Trey Isley (Nayeli), Dawne Taylor (Jeremy), Christin King, Austin Ray, Justin King and Robbie Harrell, great grandchildren, Mason and Caroline, brother: Glen Harrell (Rosie) of Reidsville, sisters: Joyce Robertson of LaBelle,FL and Mary Mabe (Don) of Madison, stepchildren: Thomas Turner (Christine), Patti Jo Reynolds and Tina Louise Crowder, step grandchildren: Barry, Dawn, Randy, Ryan, four step great grandchildren. The family will see friends 6:00 till 8:00 P.M. Thursday June 21, 2018 at Citty Funeral Home 308 Lindsey St. Reidsville, NC and at other times will be at the home of  his daughter Tina Michelle Hall 126 Hamlett Way Reidsville, NC.
