Rebecca Trammel "Becky" Fox

Rebecca “Becky” Trammel Fox , age 90, a current resident of Rockingham County, NC passed away on November 9, 2025 after an extended journey with Alzheimer’s Disease. The daughter of a Baptist minister, she was born in Columbus, NC but grew up in Troy, NC and Burnsville, NC.

Becky graduated a year early from Burnsville High School and continued her education at Mars Hill Junior College and Meredith College, receiving degrees in Home Economics. After graduation she began work as a Home Extension Agent for the State of NC in Smithfield, NC. She was transferred to Boone, NC where she stated she “would work her two year contract and leave” due to the small (at the time) town and harsh winter weather. The Lord had other plans as she met her future husband, Max Fox, on the steps of the Old Boone Post Office. Before her health declined, she had been a resident of Boone for more than 50 years.

After raising her family, Becky reentered the workforce as a pre-school teacher at both First Baptist Church and Boone United Methodist Church. She thoroughly enjoyed her time teaching and loved to see the children and parents of those she taught around town.

True to her roots, Becky was also an active member of First Baptist Church in Boone, serving as needed in many capacities. Her favorite place to be on Sunday mornings was in her Ladies Sunday School Class and serving in the infant room of the Nursery.

In her later years she enjoyed traveling with Max and spending time with her grandchildren.

She is survived by her children, Buford (Andrea) and Johnna (Chuck), grandchildren Amber, Zachary (Colleen), Mallory (Clay), Brock (Taylor) and Stephen, great grandchildren Sawyer, Vivian and Hunter, as well as a number of nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband Max Fox, her parents Reverend Charles B. Trammel, Sr and Anne Hurst Trammel and her brother, Charles B. Trammel, Jr.

A graveside memorial service will be held on Saturday, November 15, 2025 at 1:00PM at Mount Lawn Memorial Park and Gardens, 521 Old East King Street, Boone, NC. with Rev. Mike Townsend officiating. The family will see friends following the service at the cemetery.
