Ray Edward Meacher

Ray Edward Meacher, 85, of Reidsville went to be with the Lord Sunday December 19, 2021 at the Penn Nursing Center. Graveside services will be conducted 2:00 P.M. Wednesday December 22, 2021 at Sharon Baptist Church Cemetery with military rites. A native of Cleveland, OH, he was a son of the late Russel and Dorothy Miller Meacher and had lived in Rockingham County most of his life. He was a retired employee of NC Gas Service and had taught science, biology, and chemistry in Ohio and later at Wentworth High School before working for NC Gas Service. He was a veteran of the US Army and had received a BS Degree in Biochemistry from Ashland University in Ashland, OH. A member of Sharon Baptist Church, he had played Santa at the Pennrose Mall for 18 years. Ray enjoyed wordsearch books, westerns on television, and was a big Star Trek fan. He loved his church family and was preceded in death by a daughter: Darlene Joy Meacher. Survivors include his wife of 47 years: Doris Sapaugh Meacher of the home, a daughter: Teresa Branch and husband Tommy of Reidsville, and his loving canine companion Dexter. The family will see friends 6:00 till 8:00 P.M. Tuesday December 21, 2021 at Citty Funeral Home and at other times will be at the home of Teresa Branch 3030 Iron Works Rd.
