Peggy Twiddy Obituary

Peggy Pegram Twiddy, age 89, of Greensboro, North Carolina, peacefully went home to be with her Lord on February 10, 2026 in Reidsville, NC at Brookdale Senior Living.  Peggy chose to live her life for Jesus, sharing His love with all who knew her through her gracious heart and sacrificial love.  Her life was a testament of her faith.

Her childhood was spent in the Oak Ridge area of Guilford County. She was an exceptional student and fell in love with the piano given to her by her musically inclined Uncle Clyde.  At an early age she became the pianist at the Honey In the Rock Baptist Church (now Northwest Baptist Church).

Peggy married at 15. When the marriage ended 8 years later, she and her young son moved to Kernersville to live with relatives.  She continued working for Kaiser-Roth Mills in Greensboro. She was the pianist and singer with the Faith Trio from 1963 until 1967 when she met the love of her life, Marshall Twiddy at a singing engagement in Chesapeake, Virginia.

After a brief courtship they were married; Peggy’s son Keith and Marshall’s children Anita, Tommy, and Becky became instant family. Mark and Beth arrived during the next three years. They remained in Chesapeake until 1980, moving their family to Greensboro to serve as the primary caregiver for Peggy’s favorite aunt.

During their 53 years of marriage, Peggy and Marshall were dedicated to raising their family, serving God through their local church, ministering to missionaries, spending quality time with their children, grandchildren and great grandchildren, and caring for members of their family (with failing health).

After Marshall’s passing in 2020, Peggy’s health slowly declined. She spent her last year living under the exceptional care of the Brookdale staff in Reidsville. The family also thanks AuthoraCare Hospice for the compassionate and attentive care provided to Peggy during her final days.

Left to cherish her memory are her children, Keith Nance (Joy); Anita Simmons (Jeff); Tommy Twiddy; Becky Myrick (Ken); Mark Twiddy (Jowayne) and Beth Wilson (Randall).  She was very involved in the lives of her 9 grandchildren:  Jordan Nance, Kenneth Myrick, Amber Racke, Spencer Twiddy, Ethan Twiddy, Nicholas Wilson, Hannah LeTendre, Tom Twiddy Jr, Jacob Twiddy, & Ryan Simmons.  She also deeply loved her 9 great-grandchildren.  Peggy was also survived by her sister Shirley Pearson and brother Mickey Pegram.

Peggy was preceded in death by her husband, Marshall Twiddy; parents, Howard and Cora Tucker Pegram; 3 brothers Donald, John, and Wayne; 2 sisters Kaye Pegram and Faye Holbrook; her aunt, Golden Whitaker and 1 granddaughter, Angie Conner; and one grandson, Nathan Twiddy.

A memorial service will be held on Thursday, February 19 at 3:00 pm, at Cornerstone Baptist Church, 5736 Inman Road, Greensboro with Reverend Josh Wester and Reverend Jim Grasty officiating. The family will visit with friends immediately following the service. Light refreshments will be served.
