Paul David Burgess, 74, went to be with the Lord on Thursday evening, July 16, 2026, at his home.
The funeral service will be conducted, with military rites, at 11:00AM on Wednesday, July 22, at the Thompsonville Baptist Church with Pastor Ronnie Jones officiating. The family will see friends on Tuesday, July 21, 2026, from 6:00PM till 8:00PM at Citty Funeral Home and at other times they will be at the residence.
Paul lived in the Williamsburg Community for the past 12 years where he was a member of Thompsonville Baptist Church. He was a proud US Army Veteran retiree with over 20 years of active duty in transportation and teaching programming software. Paul loved his family and was an avid collector of Case knives, Zippo lighters, and was a huge Ohio State fan.
A native of Huntington, West Virginia, he was a son of the late Paul Junior Burgess and Carol Anne Collins Burgess Vitale. He was preceded in death by his parents and by a brother: Ronald Burgess and a sister: Debbie Locey.
Paul is survived by his wife: Rosemary McKinney Burgess of the home, 2 step-daughters: Wendy Canada (Andrew) of Spartanburg, South Carolina, and Erin Gauldin (Clifton) of Chapel Hill, North Carolina; daughter Karen Schuler (Tommy) of Ohio; 2 sons: David and Brent Burgess of West Virginia; his sister Vicky Paden of Graham, North Carolina; 10 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren.
