The family will see friends before the funeral 1:00 P.M. till 2:00 P.M. Wednesday January 29, 2025 at Woodmont United Methodist Church. A comfort to many and joy to all, Patsy spent most of her life taking care of and loving others. Patsy worked as an RN for over 40 years at hospitals throughout Gastonia, Winston Salem and Reidsville. Outside of her nursing career, she could be found square dancing with her late husband, Daniel Leroy Tate, playing her dulcimer, basket making, reading and being an active member in her methodist church community. Her children fondly remember her spiritual gift of giving to others, her pimento cheese sandwiches and her card ministry. Known lovingly as “Maw Maw” and “GP” by her grandchildren, she will be remembered for her unconditional love, competitive game spirit, special honeybun cake and thoughtful handwritten cards. She is survived by her children John David Tate (Alicia) of Graham, NC; Beth Tate of Greensboro; Grandchildren Danielle Rice (Jason) of Chicago, IL, Sarah Kennedy (Chase) of Portland, OR; Mary Tate (Jordan) of Hoboken, NJ; Daniel Tate of Mooresville, NC; great grandchildren, Audrey and Madeline Rice and many nieces and nephews. Patsy is predeceased by her loving husband, Daniel Leroy Tate; Parents Edna and Loyd Cook and Brother Don Cook. Many thanks to the staff of Brookdale Assisted Living and Penn Nursing Center for providing such wonderful care to her over the last year of her life.
