Michael Barry Shahan

Michael Barry Shahan, 82, went to be with his Lord on Tuesday, October 24, 2023, at Moses Cone Memorial Hospital.

A native of Rowlesburg, WV, he was a son of the late Harry William and Cora Diehl Shahan and had lived in Reidsville since 1965.  Mike was a member of the First Baptist Church, he served in the US Air Force from 1961- 1965.  He had an Associate Degree in Business and had worked for Burlington Industries, Karastan, Miller Brewing, Reynolds Metal and Ball Corp., where he retired.  Mike was a Boy Scout Master at troop 714, a member of the NRA, Rockingham Co. Gun Club, the Dan River Basin Association, the Rowlesburg Area historical Society and the American Legion.  He was preceded in death by his Parents, a Son:  John Wesley Shahan, Father and Mother-in-Law:  John W. and Vera P. McCullen, Brothers:  Harry W. Shahan, Jr., John W. Shahan, and Keith Shahan and Sisters:  Dorothy Klein, Mary Ross, and Margaret Field.

Surviving is his Wife of 57 years:  Joan McCullen Shahan, Son:  Michael Barry Shahan II and wife:  Lisa, Granddaughters:  Stella and Sophie Shahan.  A memorial service will be conducted at a later date.  The family would like to thank Authoricare Hospice for their kindness and care during Mike’s illness.  Citty Funeral Home is assisting the Shahan family and online condolences may be made at www.cittyfh.com
