Melvin Franklin Stone

Melvin Franklin Stone, 76, of Reidsville, went to be with the Lord Saturday June 4, 2022 at his home.

Memorials services will be conducted 2:00 P.M. Friday June 10, 2022  in Citty Funeral Home Chapel with military rites provided by the Rockingham County Honor Guard. The family will see friends following the service at Citty Funeral Home.

A native of Reidsville, he was a son of the late Reuben C. and Lucy Williams Stone and had lived all of his life in Rockingham County. A retired heavy equipment operator, he had formerly worked for Yates Construction Co., and was a US Army Veteran of the Vietnam Conflict. He grew up attending North Scales St. Church of Christ, and he enjoyed fishing, flying remote controlled airplanes, and working in his yard. He was a member of the NRA, was a graduate of Reidsville Senior High and was preceded in death by a grandson: Tye Stone and a step-daughter: Lisa D. McGehee.

Survivors include: his wife Jean Talley McGehee Stone of the home, son: Christopher Stone of Yadkinville, and step-son: Christopher McGehee (Elizabeth) of Reidsville, step-daughter: Cathy M. Hartley (Mark) of Baltimore, MD, brothers: Richard Wayne “Ricky” Stone (Kay) of Reidsville, and Gary Ronald Stone (Vickie) of Ridgeway, VA, sisters: Libby Lovelace of Ruffin, Linda Fargis and Shirley McKinney (James Garland) both of Reidsville, and Geraldine Minter (Bobby Gene) of Roanoke, VA, two step-grandchildren.
