Lillian Wegner Dotson

Lillian Wegner Dotson, 86, of Ruffin, NC went to be with the Lord Monday, January 18, 2021 at her home. Funeral services will be conducted 11:00 a.m. Thursday January 21, 2021 at Ruffin-Stacey Baptist Church. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.  Those wishing to pay their respects may come by Citty Funeral Home on Wednesday, January 20, 2021 from 12:00 Noon until 6:00 PM and on Thursday , January 21, 2021 from 8:00 AM until 9:00AM and for 1 hour before the funeral at Ruffin-Stacey Baptist Church.  Due to the COVID-19 Pandemic, those attending the service are asked to wear masks or face coverings and to observe social distancing. She was a native of Hi Hat, KY and was a daughter of the late William “Bill” and Anna Barsuhn Wegner. Lillian was the oldest daughter of 13 children. She graduated high school at age 14; graduated Pikeville College in Pikeville, KY. She then attended Prairie Bible College in Three Hills Alberta Canada for a year before transferring to Appalachian Bible College and graduating in 1957. Upon graduating Appalachian she served on the staff of the college teaching Bible in the public schools in Raleigh Co. W.VA. Lillian married Jim Dotson on August 15, 1959 and for the next 44 years Lillian faithfully served the churches Jim pastored in VA, W.VA, and North Carolina. The Dotsons moved to Reidsville in January 1970. Lillian began her teaching career in 1971 at Community Baptist Schools teaching close to 1000 students over her 25 years of teaching. Lillian taught four of her own grandchildren, the children of many former students, and it became normal to go anywhere in Reidsville and hear “you taught my son/daughter/grandson/me… in 1st grade. Lillian was preceded in death by a grandson: Joey, brothers: Chester, Ralph, Harold, and a sister: Sarah. Survivors include her husband of 61 years James Edward “Jim” Dotson of the home, daughter: Leah Dotson Wagoner of Charlotte, son: Jim Dotson (Ann) of Raleigh, grandchildren: Tommy, Andy (Heather), Emily (Matt), Hillary (fiancé Matt), Bennett (Raegen), Hunter (fiancé Haley), and Lillian Aselya, sisters: Louise, Lois, Leah,  and brothers: Sam, Paul, Raymond, Marvin, and Wilmar. Memorials may be made in her memory to Community Baptist Schools 509 Triangle Rd. Reidsville, NC  27320. Citty Funeral Home is assisting the Dotson family.
