LaDonna Louise Bobbitt Weddle was born in East Chicago, Indiana on February 25th, 1937 to Dorothy and Frederick Bobbitt. She was the second of four daughters: Patricia (Patty) was the eldest; Ladonna (Donnie) was second; Judith (Judy) was third and Mary Beth was the baby. LaDonna grew up in the Cedar Lake and Lowell area of Indiana, where she met lifelong friends Gretchen, Helen, Carol Ann, Serge and Joyce. LaDonna also grew up with Leonard, who became her high school sweetheart and later her husband of 52 years until he passed in December of 2018. Ladonna graduated from Lowell high School and attended Alverno College in Milwaukee, Wisconsin with her buddy Helen. After graduating with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree, she became a Visiting Nurse and worked her way from Indiana to Ohio to Virginia and then to North Carolina. She married Leonard in 1966 and they settled in Reidsville, North Carolina in the 1970s. Ladonna and Leonard became members of Holy Infant Catholic Church, where they enjoyed many good friendships and found comfort. Ladonna continued her nursing career to teach at Rockingham Community College, work as a Nurse Manager at Charter Hill Hospital, earn her Master of Science in Nursing degree at the University of North Carolina at Greensboro and serve as Director of Nursing at the Pittsylvania County Health Department of Virginia—all while raising a precocious daughter, Clare Marie, and caring for several pet cats and dogs. Ladonna retired from nursing to pursue her passion as a watercolorist and crafter in the 1990s. While in Reidsville, Leonard and Ladonna had many wonderful friends and neighbors, who did not mind Clare Marie ringing their doorbells several times a day to visit. They retired to Danville, Virginia and made many dear friends, who helped them to age gracefully and with a lot of laughter. Ladonna passed away on November 23rd, 2020 with her daughter by her side in Danville. Ladonna was a lifelong caregiver who was kind, generous and more than happy to speak her mind. She is preceded in death by: her sister, Patty and her husband Joel; brother-in-law, Jack Eaker; beloved nephew, Douglas Cooper; and her husband, Leonard Bruce Weddle. LaDonna is survived by: her sister, Judy Eaker and her sons, Scott, Jason, and Shane of Indiana; her sister Mary Beth Teti and her sons, Mark and Michael of Florida; her nieces Carrie Ann and Paula; her nephew John; and her daughter, Clare Marie along with grandpup, Cecil Sonny Weddle of Nashville, North Carolina.
