Karl Frederick Urshel, 76, of Reidsville, went to be with the Lord Wednesday January 4, 2023 at his home. Memorial services will be conducted 3:00 P.M. Sunday (January 8, 2023) at Speedwell Presbyterian Church. Burial will be in the church cemetery with military rites. A native of Greensboro, he was a son of the late Floyd and Vera Johnson Urshel and had lived most of his life in Rockingham County. A US Navy Veteran, he was a member of Westminister Presbyterian Church in Greensboro. Karl went to work for the Madison Police Department in 1973 and became Chief before his retirement. He enjoyed raising bantams and other chickens that he showed. He was preceded in death by his wife: Ann Torbert Urshel and a son: Kris Urshel. Survivors include his son: Klint Urshel of Stoneville, daughters: Carmen Greer and Carina Everhart (Jesse) both of Reidsville, and Marguerite “Peggy” Sanabria of San Diego, CA, brother; Lee Malloy (Diana) of Jamestown, sister: Susan Urshel (Paul) of Ft. Worth, TX, grandchildren: Tristan Greer, Madison Everhart, Tyler Everhart, and Annie Grace Everhart. Memorials may be sent to: Speedwell Presbyterian Church 862 Iron Works Rd.
