John Robert Dove

John Robert “Bobby” Dove, 84, of Madison went to be with his Lord on Sunday, July 24, 2022, at the Rockingham Co. Hospice Gibson House.

Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 PM Thursday, July 28, 2022, at Citty Funeral Home Chapel and interment will follow in Evergreen Memory Gardens with Military Rites by the NC National Guard and Rockingham Co. Veteran’s Honor Guard. Due to the COVID19 Pandemic, the family requests that people attending the visitation and funeral service please wear masks or face coverings.

A native of Rockingham Co., he was a son of the late William Oliver and Ruth Hazel Rogers Dove and had lived in Rockingham Co. for the past 50 years.  He was a farmhand as a child, drafted into the US Army at 18. Saw most of Germany, France, and Amsterdam; stationed as a guard on the Berlin wall during the Cold War. a retired employee of Lorillard Tobacco Co., volunteer firefighter who worked several emergency responses, Sunday school teacher at various churches, and a member of Brighter Day Ministries on Eagle Falls Rd., Madison, NC. He always planted and enjoyed having a garden.  In his younger days, Bobby was an avid hunter and fisherman. Bobby was preceded in death by his parents and by a sister, Brenda Marie Julian.

Surviving is his wife, Anita Chapmon Dove of the home, two daughters, Annette Michelle Dove (Daniel Jackson) and Tasha Anita Dove (Reid Pruitt) both of Reidsville, Grandson, Oliver Robert Jackson, and many beloved cousins.

The family will see friends 6:00 till 8:00PM Wednesday, July 27, 2022, at Citty Funeral Home and at other times they will be at the residence at 261 Eagle Falls Rd.  Madison, NC  27025.
