Jerry Wayne Tate, Sr., 77, of Reidsville, went to be with the Lord Thursday March 26, 2020 at his home surrounded by his family. A private funeral service will be held Saturday March 28, 2020 for immediate family members only. A public memorial service will be conducted at a later date. A native of Rockingham County, he was a son of the late Javan “J.C.” and Addie Perdue Tate and had lived most of his life in Rockingham County. A retired truck driver with Murrows Transfer Co., he sold used cars for several years in Reidsville after his retirement. He was a member of Christian Fellowship Church, a US Air Force veteran, a member and Past Master of Jefferson Penn Masonic Lodge #384 AF&AM for over fifty years and a Shriner. He is preceded in death by a son: Jerry Wayne Tate, Jr., and brothers: Jacob Lee Tate and William Howard Tate. Jerry loved his family and treated everyone with loving kindness. Survivors include his wife of 60 years: Elaine Shelton Tate of the home, son: Mark Tate, daughters: Teressa Tate Gibbs (Wes) and Kim Sandidge, grandchildren: Billy Wayne Stanley (Ashley), Julia Eggers, and Ashley Eggers, great grandchildren: Hudson, Holden and Hayden Stanley, sisters: Shirley Loftis Ward and Patsy Carol Tate.
