Jerry Franklin Barrett

Jerry Franklin Barrett, 73, of Ruffin went to be with his Lord on Monday, August 7, 2023, at UNC Rockingham Nursing Center in Eden.

Graveside services will be conducted at 4:00 PM Thursday, August 10, 2023, in Greenview Cemetery with Rev. Duane King officiating.  The family will see friends from 1:00 PM until 5:00 PM on Wednesday, August 9, 2023, in the fellowship hall at Piedmont Baptist Church 257 Penn Lake Dr. in Reidsville.

A native of Rockingham Co., he was a son of the late Orvice Edward and Mary Alice Stanley Barrett and he had lived in Ruffin most of his life.  Jerry retired from the N. C. Dept. of Corrections with 24 years of service.  He was a Sergeant and was at the Caswell Co, Correctional Center.  Prior to becoming a prison guard, he was a talented welder for many years.  He loved to hunt, he operated Sagebrush Hunting Club in Ruffin for many years, and was an avid NASCAR fan.  Jerry was preceded in death by his parents, and wives, Alice Alcorn Barrett and Alma Gwynn Barrett, by his son, Todd Saunders, and his brother, Larry Barrett.

He is survived by his son, Jeremiah Barrett of Greensboro, daughters, Virginia “Ginny” Price (Theodore “Ted) of Ruffin and Michell Dillard of Ruffin, brother, Gary Barrett (Yvonne) of Ruffin, sister, Tamela Barrett Daves (Michael) of Reidsville, grandchildren, Taylor Price, Julia Price, Rebecca Price, Judah Price, Clay Dillard, Grace Dillard, Stephanie Saunders, Lele Saunders, and London Saunders. Memorials may be made to the Rockingham Animal Shelter 250 Cherokee Camp Rd. Reidsville, NC  27320.

Those wishing to pay their respects may come by Citty Funeral Home on Tuesday, Aug. 8, 2023, from 11:00 Am till 6:00PM, on Wednesday, Aug. 9, 2023, from 8:00 AM till 6:00 PM or on Thursday , August 10, 2023, from 8:00 AM until 2:30 PM.  The family would like to thank the caregivers for their care and kindness during Jerry’s illness.
