James Elliott O'Neil

James Elliott O’Neil, 55, of Reidsville, passed away Thursday March 31, 2022 at Gibson House Hospice of Rockingham County.

Memorial services will be conducted at 3:00PM Saturday April 9, 2022 at Woodmont United Methodist Church.  

James was a native of Tampa, FL, a child of Carole Milton O’Neil and the late William Thomas “Tom” O’Neil, Sr. and had lived in Idaho, Greensboro, and the last few years in Reidsville. A former EMT in Boone, NC and a former Aquatics Director of the YMCA in Idaho Falls, ID, and Burlington, NC., James received an undergraduate degree from Appalachian State University and a Master’s Degree from U.N.C.G. An avid fly fishing enthusiast and an active participant in Project Healing Waters Fly Fishing, Inc. and The Guilford Green Foundation, James was preceded in death by father William Thomas “Tom” O’Neil, Sr.

Survivors include mother: Carole Milton O’Neil of Reidsville, and a brother: William T. O’Neil, Jr. and wife Mara of Reidsville, nieces and nephew: Avery O’Neil, Ella O’Neil, and Thomas O’Neil and many loving friends from Idaho, Winston Salem and Greensboro.
