James Edward “Ed” Campbell, Jr. , 86, went to be with his Lord on Wednesday, January 13, 2021, at the Masonic and Eastern Star Home in Greensboro. Because of the COVID-19 Pandemic the family will have a private Graveside Service on Sunday, January 17, 2021 at Mizpah United Methodist Church Cemetery. People wishing to pay their respects may come by Citty Funeral Home on Friday or Saturday January 15th or 16th from 8:00 AM until 6:00PM or Sunday January 17th from 8:00AM until 12:30PM. A native of Richmond Co., NC, he was a son of the late James Edward Campbell and the late Annie Mae Garrett Campbell Knight and he had lived in Rockingham Co. since 1979. Ed was a member of Mizpah United Meth. Church, a US Army Veteran, an accomplished Guitarist, a retired teacher and football coach. He taught and coached at Rockingham, NC and at Reidsville High School and at Rockingham Co. High School. Ed taught Drivers Education and after his retirement from the school system he worked with the Migrant Education Program in Rockingham Co. He enjoyed visiting Scales St. Music where he played the guitar and drank coffee and socialized. Ed was preceded in death by his wife; Dianne Hill Campbell. Surviving is his son; Rev. Marcus Campbell (Debbie) of High Point, daughters; Suzanna Campbell of Greensboro, Sarah C. Amick (Tim) of Stokesdale, and Merri Campbell of Rockingham, 2 granddaughters; Kristen and Kelsey.
