James Busick Obituary

James Jefferson Busick, 87, went to be with the Lord on Monday, July 18, 2022, at his home in the presence of his family.

A Memorial Service will be conducted at 2:00 PM Sunday, July 24, 2022, at Apples Chapel Church and inurnment will follow in the church cemetery.

A native of Guilford Co., James was born on his family farm. A son of the late Joyce J. and Lillie Cook Busick, James attended Busick Grade School and completed high school at Monticello High School in 1953. Upon his graduation, he went to work at Cone Mill Printing Works, and ended his working career with 30 years of service for Guilford Dairy. His children and grandchildren fondly remember him getting their favorite milk or ice cream off the truck for a special treat. He retired from Guilford Dairy in 1997.  James was a family man and was happiest when he had all his loved ones together. Some of our favorite times together were making memories with our family traditions. James loved having family and friends over to cook BBQ in his smoker for our Christmas meal. Summers were for shucking corn and snapping beans, and fall meant our annual family stew. In the summer, James was a master at cornhole games during family cookouts, and was always the one to beat in the family. He loved traveling to the beach, fishing, and golfing. He also enjoyed traveling to the mountains, always visiting the little local shops along the way. He was happy to watch any sport, but especially loved cheering on his Tar Heels and Braves.  James was a member of Apples Chapel Church since he was a little boy. He was a member of the Couples for Christ Sunday School Class. He enjoyed singing bass in the Adult Choir, Senior Choir and Men’s Chorus.  He was preceded in death by his parents and by a brother, Glenn T. Busick, his mother-in-law Beulah Brooks Huffines, son-in-law Bill Stadler, and his faithful dog Luke, who loved their daily walks down the dirt road.

Surviving is his wife Betty Brooks Busick of the home, sons, Kevin Busick (Melissa), Richard Allison (Stacy), and John Allison, daughters, Lori Busick, Kimberly Miller (Tim), and Lisa A. Stadler, twin brother, Joyce J. Busick, Jr. (Shirley), sister, Regina Johnson, sister-in-law Betty W. Busick, grandchildren, Ashley Way, Justin Way, Colin Busick, Kelsey Busick, Lindsay Miller, Jamie Miller, Lily Allison, Meredith Staley (Cliff) and Hunter Truitt, great grandchildren, Ella Kate Staley, Hattie Staley, Chloe Simmons, Luca Oblach, and Oliver Way. Also surviving are his cat Smitty who loved his daily rubbings.

A special thank you to his grandson, Hunter Truitt, for his constant care and love over the past two years.

The family will see friends immediately following the service in the church fellowship hall and at other times they will be at the residence, 1165 Candy Creek Rd.  Reidsville, NC  27320.  Citty Funeral Home is assisting the Busick family.
