James Albert “John Henry” Stone, 84, went to be with the Lord on July 17, 2021. Due to Covid a private service will be held to celebrate his life at First Baptist Church with Rev. Jimmy Laster and Rev. Lyle Milligan officiating, burial will follow in Roselawn Memorial Gardens. His body will lie in state at First Baptist Church, Monday July 19 from 5pm until 8 pm. You may come by and sign a register and pay your respects. A native of Rockingham County, James was the son of the late George Swanson and Hattie Mae Walker Stone and lived his entire life in Reidsville. James was an active member of First Baptist Church and previously Baptist Temple. He retired from Pat Brady Oil as a truck driver. He had a love for God, family and others. He showed this through his gentle caring ways. He enjoyed Braves baseball, westerns, yard work and helping others. He was a wonderful husband, father, Papa and friend. James was preceded in death by a brother Paul Stone. Surviving is his wife of 63 years Edna Carter Stone, daughter Cathy Stone Oakes (Tim) of Greensboro, grandchildren Camden Oakes, Cara Oakes (fiancé David Rutledge), sisters-in-laws Irvene Stone, Nona Brooks, and brother-in-law Charlie Carter and numerous nieces and nephews. Box 2668 Reidsville, NC 27323-2668, or to a charity of your choice.
