Inez Reagan Saunders

Inez Reagan Saunders of Reidsville, North Carolina, passed into eternity in the love of our Lord Jesus on August 18, 2019, in San Bruno, California. She is the daughter of the late Walter Spencer Reagan and Pearl Mae Page Reagan. Her brother is the late James Floyd Reagan. Her former husband, Percy Leo Saunders, and one son, Marc Godwin Saunders, preceded her in death. She is survived by her children Percy Leo, Jr., Susan Paige, and David Patrick Saunders, five grandchildren, and nine great-grandchildren. Inez was born and raised in Reidsville, NC. As a child, she helped her parents work on their small farm. She loved to sew and made all of her and her children’s clothes for many years. She married Percy in 1950 when she was 24 years old. She and Percy attended the same one-room schoolhouse and had known each other all of their lives. He was in the Air Force, so she relocated frequently with her husband and children, living in Florida, Nevada, Arizona, Nebraska, New York, North Carolina, and the Philippines. She was the family's center when her husband was away or working extended hours, as was the case several times. She was very interested in the spiritual well-being of her children and took them to church every week. Every one of her children became a believer in Jesus. After Percy’s retirement from the Air Force in 1973, they moved to Charleston, South Carolina, where Inez worked at a bank in Charleston, and then later at the Naval Supply Center in North Charleston in the accounting department. She earned her bachelor of science degree in accounting from Baptist College in North Charleston, which was a long-time goal, when she was 60 years old. In 2008 she moved to Pacifica, California to live with her daughter Paige. They bought a duplex together where they lived side-by-side for five years. In 2013 after a fall and traumatic brain injury, she moved into Cristina’s Care Home in San Bruno where, because of their loving care, she improved and regained much of her ability to walk and talk. She lived there six years until her death at 93 years old. She is greatly loved and missed by her family and all who knew her. Funeral services will be conducted 10:30 A.M. Saturday August 31, 2019 at Locust Hill United Methodist Church in Caswell County, NC. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
