In addition, Hazel served as United Way Chairman, Campaign Director, Habitat for Humanity, The Free Clinic, and the Soup Kitchen. An active member of St. Thomas Episcopal Church, Hazel served several times on the Vestry, the Altar Guild, Women of the Church, and other church roles.

Hazel had so many friends who loved her including three who visited and helped her almost daily, Debbie Merricks, Beverly Ragland, and Sid Baker, all from Reidsville. Hazel's memorial service will take place Saturday, June 11 at 10:00 am at St. Thomas Episcopal Church in Reidsville. The family will gather in the Pipkin Parlor afterwards to visit with everyone. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Thomas Episcopal Church, the Outreach Center, or the Old North State Council, BSA. The family is grateful to everyone who have been such an integral part in Hazel's life. Although Hazel has departed this earthly life, her presence will be forever felt. A gentle person, Hazel will always be in our hearts and the legacy of a servant's spirit she leaves will hopefully be embraced by us all.
