Guy Hunter Carlton, 68, a skilled carpenter and beloved friend, died unexpectedly at his home in Eden on Christmas day, December 25, following a heart attack.
A native of Gibsonville, he was a son of the late Graham Hunter Carlton and the late Bette Cobb Carlton Furr. He lived in Reidsville most of his life before moving to Eden 12 years ago. Guy was a retired finish carpenter and a member of the Eden Moose Lodge.
He loved his daughter and grandchildren, Janet, his long-time partner, his cat, Miss Kittie, and his dog, Odin. He loved all kinds of music, especially jazz and the blues, and was known as a kind and tender-hearted friend. Guy was an avid gardener and an excellent cook. During his younger years, he was a softball player.
Guy was preceded in death by his older brother, Kim Carlton.
He is survived by his daughter, Hayley C. Benton (Jermaine) of Reidsville, his common-law wife, Janet J. Gibbs of Eden, his brother, Kelley Carlton of Reidsville, his grandchildren, Hunter and Alina Benton and his niece, Kristie Morgan of Montana and his nephew, Kasey Carlton of Montana.
