Grover Wilson Norwood, Jr.

Grover Wilson Norwood, Jr., 61, went home to his Heavenly Father on Monday, June 29, 2020, at Annie Penn Hospital.

Funeral Services will be conducted at 2:00 PM Thursday, July 2, 2020, in Citty Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Jerry Carter officiating and burial will follow in Roselawn Memorial Gardens.

A native of Rockingham Co., he was a son of the late Grover Wilson and Mildred Loftis Norwood and had lived in Reidsville all of his life.  Before his accident, which left him a quadriplegic, he loved fishing and hunting and he was well known as “squirrel” because of his tree trimming and climbing ability. G. W. had a great love for his daughter and granddaughter and had been a resident of Avante at Reidsville for many years.  He was preceded in death by his parents and by a brother;  James Thomas Norwood.

Surviving is his daughter;  Jessica Gayle Norwood (Michael Mata) of Reidsville, brother;  Wayne Norwood of Madison, sisters;  Jeannette Rickman of Reidsville, Barbara Ann Thomas of Reidsville, and Mary Frances Terry (Ricky) of Eden, granddaughter;  Savannah, and the mother of his daughter and the love of his life;  Missy Frick.

The family would especially like to thank his caregivers, nurses, and doctors at Avante and at Annie Penn Hospital for their kindness and care.  The family will see friends from 6:00 till 8:00PM Wednesday, July 1, 2020 at Citty Funeral Home and at other times they will be at the home of his daughter;  Jessica Gayle Norwood 240 Rolling Meadows Dr.  Reidsville, NC 27320.
