George Thruston Pearson

George Thruston Pearson,88, went to be with the Lord on Monday, May 2, 2022, at the Gibson Hospice Home.

Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 AM Thursday, May 5, 2022, at Grace Fellowship at South Park with Rev. John Marks officiating and burial will follow in Lowes United Methodist Church Cemetery with military rites by the Rockingham Co. Veteran’s Honor Guard.

A native of Rockingham Co., he was a son of the late George Dillard “Doc” and Elizabeth “Lizzie” French Pearson and he had lived in the Williamsburg Community all of his life.  Thruston was a farmer, a member of Grace Fellowship at South Park, a US Army Veteran, a member of the Williamsburg Vol. Fire Dept., a former Boy Scout leader, and a former member of the Rockingham Co. Planning Board.  He was well known for raising corn, sweet potatoes and other vegetables.  Thruston was preceded in death by his parents, his wife; Anita Corum Pearson, his son; Victor Glenn Pearson, his brother; Robert Harris “Bobby” Pearson, and his sister; Dorothy Grey Pearson.

Surviving is his daughter; Joan Pearson of Reidsville, grandsons; Alan Cross (Kaitlyn) of Lynchburg, VA and Josh Cross (Laura) of Reidsville.

The family will see friends from 6:00 till 8:00PM Wednesday, May 4, 2022, at Citty Funeral Home and at other times at the home of his daughter; Joan Pearson  180 Berry Ln.  Reidsville, NC 27320.  Memorials may be made to:  Williamsburg Vol. Fire Dept. 175 Williamsburg Rd. Reidsville, NC  27320.
