George Homer Isley, Jr.

George Homer Isley, Jr, 97, of Reidsville went to be with the Lord Saturday March 14, 2026 at his home surrounded by his loving family.

Funeral services will be conducted 3:00 P.M. Wednesday March 18, 2026 in Citty Funeral Home Chapel conducted by Pastor Wesley Byerly. Burial will be in Sharon Baptist Church Cemetery with military rites by the Rockingham County Veterans Honor Guard. The family will see friends 2:00 till 3:00 P.M. Wednesday March 18, 2026 before the service at the funeral home.

A native of Rockingham County, he was a son of the late George Homer and Grace Moore Isley and had lived in Rockingham County his entire life. He was a retired self-employed truck driver. Homer had also formerly worked at Short Sugars BBQ, Burlington Industries, American Tobacco Co., Dolly Madison Bakery in Greensboro and later in life he sold produce at the Reidsville Farmers Market. A US Army veteran of the Korean Conflict, he was a member of Sharon Baptist Church and enjoyed gardening, working on his equipment and vehicles, and beekeeping in his younger years. One of his joys in life was working on genealogy, tracking down the family history of the Isley family. Homer was preceded in death by his brothers: Wayne Isley, Carlton Isley, J.R. Isley, Sammy Isley and Donnie Isley.

Survivors include his wife of 72 years: Doiless Albert Isley of the home, daughters: Elaine I. Patterson, and Terry I. Hutchens both of Reidsville, Rebecca “Becky” Isley of Stoneville, sons: George Homer Isley III. and Randall “Randy” Isley both of Reidsville, sisters: Juanita I. Curry of Reidsville, and Ann I. Thacker of Summerfield, eight grandchildren, sixteen great grandchildren, two great great grandchildren, and many loving nieces and nephews.
