Gary Clifton Matthews

Gary Clifton Matthews,72, went to be with the Lord at his home, surrounded by his family, on Thursday, October 24, 2024.

A memorial service will be conducted at 3:00 PM Monday, October 28, 2024, at Happy Home Church.  Inurnment will be in the church columbarium with Military Rites by the Rockingham Co. Veteran’s Honor Guard.

A native of Sumter, SC, he had lived most of his life in Reidsville.  Gary was a member of Happy Home Church, a retired employee of the Rockingham Co. Schools, and a US Army Veteran.  Prior to his career in Information Technology, he was employed as an H-VAC Technician.  Gary loved his family, enjoyed traveling and riding his motorcycle.  He was preceded in death by his mother:  Helen Hall Matthews and by his sister-in-law:  Peggy Matthews.

Surviving is his wife:  Sarah Lamberth Matthews of the home, sons:  Jason Matthews (Samantha), Joshua Matthews (Amber) and Justin Matthews (Amy) all of Reidsville, brothers:  Calvin Matthews of Reidsville and Ron Matthews (Cheryl) of Statesville, sister:  Robin Minter (James) of Ruffin, grandchildren:  Carter Matthews, Walker Matthews, Leah Matthews, Reese Matthews, Luke Matthews, and Jackson Matthews, and special exchange students that are like family:  Klaudeta Kulla and Merita Larti.
