Evelyn Renee Griffiths Obituary

With deep sorrow and steadfast hope in the promises of Christ, we announce the passing of Evelyn Renee Griffiths, who entered into the presence of her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, at 12:04 a.m. on Monday, July 27, 2026. Evelyn passed away peacefully in her sleep at The Gibson House Hospice in Reidsville, North Carolina, following a courageous 12-year battle with breast cancer that later progressed to terminal cancer.

Evelyn was born on May 2, 1957, in Hancock County, West Virginia, to the late Burl Jackson Taylor and Grace Evelyn Tarr Taylor.

A devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, Evelyn lived a life marked by kindness, generosity, unwavering faith, and unconditional love for her family. She enjoyed a long and successful career in the banking industry, serving with dedication at various financial institutions throughout her career.

Outside of her profession, Evelyn found her greatest joy in opening her home and heart to others. She loved hosting family gatherings, preparing meals for those she loved, and creating lasting memories around the table. Her grandchildren and family were the center of her world, and she treasured every moment spent with them.

Above all else, Evelyn's life was a testimony to her deep and abiding faith in Jesus Christ. She loved the Lord wholeheartedly, faithfully served His church, and lived each day with the confidence that her hope was found in Him. Her faith sustained her throughout her illness and remained an inspiration to all who knew her.

Evelyn is survived by her beloved husband, Michael Robert Griffiths, Sr.; her son, Michael Robert Griffiths II, and his spouse, Meghan Law Griffiths; her cherished grandchildren, Zac Griffiths and Dottie Shay Griffiths; her brother, John Taylor, and his spouse, Jodi Taylor, along with their children; her sister, Carol Bauer and her children; her sister-in-law, Jodi Nickerson, and her spouse, Ralph "Nick" Nickerson, along with their children, her mother-in-law, Shirlee Griffiths; as well as many extended family members, dear friends, and all whose lives were blessed by knowing her.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Burl Jackson Taylor and Grace Evelyn Tarr Taylor.

A Celebration of Life service will be held on Saturday, August 1, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at Growing Oaks Church in Reidsville, North Carolina. The service will be officiated by Dr. Greg Robertson. Burial will immediately follow at Greenview Cemetery in Reidsville, North Carolina.

The family will see friends at the church 10:00 a.m. till 11:00 a.m. Saturday August 1, 2026 before the service.

The immediate family extends their heartfelt gratitude to Jodi and Nick Nickerson, Shirlee Griffiths, and the compassionate staff of The Gibson House Hospice for the extraordinary love, care, and comfort they provided during Evelyn's final days. Your kindness helped make her transition peaceful as she entered into the eternal presence of her Savior.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that memorial donations be made to the American Cancer Society P.O. Box 6704 Hagerstown, MD  21741 in Evelyn's memory. It is their hope that continued research and support will bring healing, encouragement, and hope to others courageously battling cancer.

Though our hearts grieve her absence, we rejoice in the assurance that Evelyn's suffering has ended and that she now rests in perfect peace with Jesus Christ. Her legacy of faith, love, compassion, and devotion to family will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.

"I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith."
