Elwood Drew Hummel, 88, of Ruffin, went to be with the Lord Monday December 2, 2019 at Sovah Health Danville in Danville, VA

A memorial service will be conducted at a later date.

A native of Winston-Salem, he had lived in Rockingham County since 2000. He was a land surveyor and later worked for Lowes Home Improvement in the Garden Center. Elwood was a native of the Army Corps of Engineers during the Korean Conflict and was a member of the American Legion. He was of Roman Catholic faith and was preceded in death by his wife of 56 years Carolyn Figlia Hummel.

Survivors include his son: Michael D. Hummel (Karen) of Ruffin, and a daughter: Karen A. Binder (Vince) of W. Seneca, NY, grandchildren: Michael Hummel, Ashley Hummel, Devyn Lewis, and Sierra Lewis and one great grandchild.
