Edward Reed “Bud” Whitten, 85, of Reidsville went to be with the Lord Wednesday July 30, 2025 at The Gibson House (Ancora Compassionate Care formerly Hospice of Rockingham County)
Memorial services will be conducted 7:00 PM Tuesday August 5, 2025 in Citty Funeral Home Chapel.
A native of Monterey Park, California, he was a son of the late Edward and Kathleen Goss Whitten, and had lived most of his life in Reidsville moving here from Browns Mills, NJ. Bud was a US Army veteran a former member of Williamsburg Volunteer Fire Department, and attended Baptist Temple Church in Reidsville. He was preceded in death by his wives: Dorothy Louise Whitten and Barbara Revis Whitten and his parents: Edward and Kathleen Goss Whitten.
He is survived by his longtime girlfriend of 10 years: Betty Higgs, his son: Scott Whitten (fiancé Hope Hornbuckle), his daughter: Wendi Louise Whitten, his sisters: Pam, Sue and Monica and grandchildren: Michael Brian Whitten and Brianna Nichole Whitten.
