Edna Earle (Carter) Stone

Edna Earle Carter Stone, 86, went to her heavenly home on Sunday March 23rd at the Penn Nursing Center.

Funeral services will be conducted at 3:00 PM Wednesday, March 26, 2025, at First Baptist Church of Reidsville with Dr. Lance Cole and Rev. Lyle Milligan officiating.  Burial will follow in Roselawn Memorial Gardens.

A native of Rockingham Co., she was a daughter of the late James Hubert and Carrie Brame Carter, and she had lived in Reidsville all her life.  Edna retired from Big Apple/Harris Teeter Food Store, and she later worked at the Baptist Temple Day Care.  She was a member of First Baptist Church where she attended the Gail King Sunday School Class and a former member of Baptist Temple Church.  She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband of 63 years:  James Albert Stone, her brothers:  John Walter Carter, James H. Carter, Jr., Charlie F. Carter, and Jerry Wayne Carter, and sisters:  Louise C. Smith and Carrie Elizabeth Snyder.

She is survived by her daughter:  Cathy S. Oakes (Tim) of Greensboro, sister:  Nona C. Brooks of Greensboro, grandchildren:  Camden Lee Oakes of Raleigh and Cara Brielle O. Rutledge (David) of Baton Rouge, LA, great granddaughter:  Brielle Ann Rutledge, sisters-in-law:  Irvene J. Stone of Reidsville and Mary J. Carter of Greensboro  and numerous loving nieces and nephews.  There will be no formal visitation.  Friends wishing to pay their respects may come by Citty Funeral Home on Tuesday, March 25, 2025, from 8:00 AM till 6:00 PM and on Wednesday, March 26, 2025, from 8:00 AM until 1:30 PM.

Edna was passionate about her faith in God, her family and friends.  She shared her love through kind words, cards and phone conversations.  She was cherished by many and will be greatly missed.
