Dorothy Lee Williams Jordan

Surrounded by the love of her family, Dorothy Lee Williams Jordan peacefully transitioned from this earthly life into the eternal presence of her Lord and Savior on Tuesday, June 23, 2026. Though our hearts grieve, we rejoice in a life well lived, one filled with unwavering faith, unconditional love, joyful laughter, and devoted service to others.

Funeral services will be conducted later in New York.

Born on March 21, 1941, in Selma, Alabama, Dorothy was a beloved daughter of the late Rosie and Willie Williams. She attended school in Selma before relocating to Spring Valley, New York, where she dedicated 46 years of compassionate service as a Certified Nursing Assistant at Northern Manor Nursing Home in Nanuet. Caring for others was more than a career, it was simply who she was.

Dorothy accepted Christ at an early age at Union Grove Baptist Church in Selma. After moving to New York, she became a faithful member of First Baptist Church in Spring Valley, where she served as a Deaconess for more than 40 years and sang joyfully in the choir. Her faith shaped every part of her life.

After retiring, Dorothy moved to Dallas, Texas, in 2016, where she enjoyed her retirement while remaining deeply connected to the family and friends she loved. She spent her final days in Reidsville, NC.

Dorothy was the heart of her family—a true matriarch whose home became a refuge for anyone in need. If you were hungry, she fed you. If you needed encouragement, prayer, or a place to stay, somehow Dorothy always had exactly what you needed. Her love was rarely spoken, but it was always felt through her generosity, sacrifice, and steadfast presence.

Known for her quick wit and sharp sense of humor, Dorothy never shied away from speaking her mind. She didn't tolerate foolishness, expected excellence from those she loved, and even at 85 years old, she wasn't someone to be underestimated. Yet behind her sarcasm was an incredibly generous heart that wanted the very best for everyone around her.

Music was one of Dorothy's greatest joys. A gifted songstress, she filled church services, family gatherings, and the halls of her home with songs of praise and melodies that became part of her family's memories. She especially treasured time spent with her brothers and sisters, where laughter always found its way into every conversation, even the spirited ones.

Dorothy was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Walter Jordan; her sons, Earl Bernard Jordan and Vincent Jordan; her parents, Rosie and Willie Williams; and siblings Ernest “Bruh” Williams, Rosie Williams, Polly Tubner, Robert “Sonny” Williams, who welcomed her into eternal rest.

She leaves to cherish her memory her children: Debra A. Hendricks (Jerold), James R. Jordan, Anthony S. Jordan, Tyronne Jordan, Ed J. Bell Jr., Rodney Bell, Dwayne K. Bell (Shantee), and Terrance Tookes, whom she loved as a son; her beloved siblings, Johnnie Mae Walker, Laura McSwain, Louise Johnson, Willie “Mane” Williams, Geneva Shine, Betty Minor, Carlena Foster, Jimmie ‘Jackie’ Williams;  24 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren;1 great- great grandchild, a god-daughter,  and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family members, and dear friends who will forever carry her love, laughter, and lessons in their hearts.

Dorothy's legacy lives on in every life she touched, every song she sang, every prayer she offered, and every act of love she quietly demonstrated. If she could leave one final word of encouragement, it would surely be the phrase that reflected both her faith and her confidence in God's promises: "It's already done."
