Dewey Ellis O'Bryant

Dewey Ellis O’Bryant, 80, of Reidsville, passed away peacefully at his home on June 27, 2022. He was preceded in death by his parents Sidney T and Eva P O’Bryant. He leaves behind his wife of 24 years, Dianne O’Bryant; one brother Wiley O’Bryant (Mary Anne) of Spring Branch Texas; two sons whom he was very proud of, Doyle O’Bryant (Tracy) and Daryle O’Bryant (Kristi); grandchildren, Heather O’Bryant, Jordan Fulp (Zack), Sydney Burnside (Kevin), and Kalyn Dickens (Ryne). One great grandson Wyatt Fulp. Step children; Jeniene Smoot (Daren), Carla Ervin (Raymond) and Ike Marsh (Shannon). Step grandchildren Josh, Cody, Melanie, Allison, Tyler, Leah, Annalee, Achilles, Addison and Anakin. Ellis leaves behind many friends and relatives, including his good friends Tommy Carter and Ruth O’Bryant.

Ellis grew up on Country Farm Road, Reidsville, helping his dad on their dairy farm. He worked for the NC Department of Corrections where he retired in 2003.

Ellis was a charter member of Monroeton Volunteer Fire Department where he held many positions including fire chief and commissioner. He was a hard worker and in his spare time could always be found in a hay field baling hay or at his barn tending to his horses.

Family will see friends 6:00 till 8:00pm Thursday June 30, 2022 at Citty Funeral Home and at other times at the residence. A graveside service will be conducted 11:00 on Friday, July 1, 2022 in Evergreen Memory Gardens with Rev. Ralph Clayton officiating.
