David Allen Gerrells

David Allen Gerrells, 63, went to be with the Lord on Friday, May 31, 2024, at Duke University Medical Center.

A memorial service will be conducted at 2:00 PM Friday, June 7, 2024, at First Baptist Church and the family will see friends immediately following the service in the church fellowship hall.

Dav was born in Danville, VA  on July 1, 1960.  He was a son of Rose Marie Mills Gerrells and the late Leo Gerrells and he had lived in Reidsville for the past 23 years.  Dav has owned and operated Café 99 and Caterfest in downtown Reidsville since 1999.  He was the 2023 N C Main St. Champion recipient and the 2020 Reidsville Chamber of Commerce Business Person of the Year.  Dav was very active in downtown Reidsville, a member of the Reidsville Chamber of Commerce and a top Team Reidsville contributor. He once said that “If someone comes in here for lunch, we want them in downtown for two to three hours.  It’s to our advantage to lead them to a shop or coffee house and hopefully get them back for dinner that night”.  Dav was preceded in death by his father and by his sister:  Susan Carol Varipapa.

He is survived by his Mother:  Rose Marie Mills “Susie” Gerrells of Danville, Brothers:  William Gerrells of Danville, Dan Gerrells (Karen) of Danville and Tommy Gerrells of Mount Airy, Nephews:  William Zachary Gerrells, Daniel Hoyt Gerrells, Alec Varipapa and Joshua Gerrells and Nieces:  Kacie Lynn McGoldrick (Kevin) and Katlyn Marie Bray (Patrick) and a host of friends.
