Dallas Odell Barber

Dallas Odell Barber, 98, of Reidsville passed away on Sunday, November 21, 2021, at Annie Penn Hospital.

Military graveside services will be conducted at 2:00PM Wednesday, November 24, 2021, in Evergreen Memory Gardens by the Rockingham Co. Veteran’s Honor Guard and the NC National Guard.

He was born on November 03, 1923 in Toshes, Virginia and moved to Reidsville when he was three years old.  Dallas was the son of the late Roy and Lena Barber.  Along with other family and friends, he was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Denise Barber, and his sisters, Agnes Chambers and Corinne Reece.  Dallas was a WWII Veteran.  He was in the Air Corps and was stationed in Everett, Washington.  After his military service, he remained in Everett for 22 years and moved back to Reidsville in 1965.  He was a supervisor at Scott Paper Company and owned a service station in Everett.  He moved back to Reidsville and worked for Ansco and Associates, had two service stations, Barber’s Texaco and East Side Sunoco, and delivered furniture for A&H Wayside.  Dallas loved RVing and his furry companions, Magie and Holly.  He owned and loved many other dogs during his lifetime.  Dallas attended Fairview Baptist Church.

Surviving is his wife of 41 years, Mary Jean Barber of the home, children:  Brian Barber (Debbie), Claudia Everette, Brent Barber (Janet), Tammy Woodall (Steve) all of Reidsville, grandchildren:  Theo Fargis (Kelly), Logan Barber (Logan), Jordan Fargis (April), and Heather Barber, 8 great grandchildren. 

People wishing to pay their respects may come by Citty Funeral Home on Tuesday, November 23, 2021 from 8:00 AM until 6:00 PM and on Wednesday, November 24, 2021, from 8:00 AM until 12:30 PM.  Memorials may be made to the Rockingham County Animal Shelter, 250 Cherokee Camp Road, Reidsville, NC 27320 or to Fairview Baptist Church Fellowship Hall Fund, 2531 Flat Rock Road, Reidsville, NC 27320.  Citty Funeral Home is assisting the Barber family and online condolences may be sent to www.cittyfh.com
