Claudia Eaken Obituary

It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Claudia Arthur Eaken, 73, of Reidsville, who passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on July 16, 2025.

Born on August 4, 1951, to Claude Arthur and Marion Jones, Claudia faced numerous hospitalizations in recent years due to her health. Despite these challenges, she maintained an incredibly upbeat attitude and worked tirelessly to regain her independence, disliking the thought of relying on others for her care.

A service to celebrate Claudia's life will be held on Wednesday, July 23, 2025, at 11:00 AM at Citty Funeral Home Chapel. A graveside service will follow at Lakeview Memorial Park in Greensboro, NC.

The family will receive friends for visitation at Citty Funeral Home on Wednesday, July 23, 2025, from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM. At other times, visitors are welcome at the home of Billy and Betty James, located at 213 Sweetgum Road.

Claudia was a vibrant, loving wife, mother, Grannie, and Nana. Her infectious smile and laugh brightened the lives of all around her. She embraced every adventure, whether it was camping trips, a visit to New York, or an all-girl cruise, embodying a truly fun-loving spirit. Claudia was known for her kind heart, never uttering a harsh word about anyone and shunning gossip. She held a strong faith in God and found comfort in her belief that she would go to Heaven.

She met her beloved husband of 43 years, Bobby Eaken, when her air conditioner needed repair. Their love story began with Claudia fixing Bobby dinner in exchange for his help, and "the rest is history." Professionally, Claudia dedicated 21 years to Sears & Roebuck and 25 years to Advanced Homecare, where she not only loved her work but also formed cherished friendships with her colleagues.

Family was the unwavering focus of Claudia's life. Nothing was more important to her than her husband, children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Her happiest moments were spent surrounded by those she loved. Claudia often joked that she would have loved to have grandchildren first, even before her own children. She was truly the best "wife," "mama," "Grannie," and "Nana."

Claudia was preceded in death by her parents, Claude Arthur and Marion Jones; her brother, Cecil Arthur; her great grandchild, Isabell James; her aunt Peggy Jones; and her uncle Herman Jones.

She will be dearly missed by many, including her devoted husband, Bobby Eaken. She is survived by her children: Tommy Gregory, Shannon James (Michael), and Heather Eaken (Travis). Her memory lives on through her grandchildren: Johnathan James (Kyra), Courtney Stone (Josh), Will James (Tayler), Bryce Gregory, Brayden Gregory, Noah McClenon, Tayler McClenon, Evan McClenon, Owen McClenon, and Jaclyn Strauch. She was also a proud great-grandmother to Cooper James, Sophia Stone, Allison Stone, and Michaela Stone. Claudia is also survived by her brothers: Sean Arthur (Pat), Mike Arthur (Effie), and Buddy Jones; her sisters: Marion Arthur and Becky Jones; her sisters-in-law: Debbi Dunno, Cathy Eaken, and Sharon Quate; and her brother-in-law, Jack Eaken. Numerous nieces, cousins, and friends will also cherish her memory.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to Ancora Compassionate Care, 2150 NC-65, Reidsville, NC 27320.

Our deepest condolences go out to Claudia's family and friends during this difficult time. She touched so many lives with her kindness and joyous spirit, and her memory will forever be a blessing.
