Charles Michael “Butch” DeLancey, 79, of Reidsville, went to be with the Lord Wednesday January 14, 2026 at Cypress Valley Center for Nursing and Rehabilitation.
According to his wishes, there will be no formal memorial services and his cremains will be buried in Greenview Cemetery with his mother.
A native of Rockingham County, he was the son of the late Charles Edward and Virgie Massey DeLancey and had lived in Greensboro until 2014 before moving back to Reidsville. He was a retired employee of Pactiv in Greensboro and was a proud US Navy veteran of the Vietnam era serving on the aircraft carrier USS John F. Kennedy. Charles enjoyed the simple things in life, a good meal, and visiting with friends reminiscing about the things he did and places he went during his time in the Navy. When his health was much better he looked forward to swimming at the Reidsville YMCA pool.
Survivors include his aunt: Julia Massey “Tommie” Carter of Reidsville, and numerous cousins, his friends: Pat Apple, Florence Putnam and Cheri Deane who visited regularly and helped look after him.
