Candace McGehee “Candy” Bowen, 67, of Reidsville went to be with the Lord Thursday March 5, 2026 at the Gibson House Ancora Compassionate Care (formerly Hospice of Rockingham County).
The family will hold a celebration of life 2:00 till 4:00 PM Saturday April 18, 2026 in the fellowship hall of First Baptist Church 409 South Main St. Reidsville, NC
A native of Reidsville, she was a daughter of the late Henry and Rachel Benfield McGehee and had lived most of her life in Rockingham County. She was a homemaker and a member of First Baptist Church. A true Navy wife, she took care of any and all problems that arose in the Bowen household while Al was in the Navy. She became a Navy Ombudsman to help other Navy wives navigate the bureaucracy that affects all military families. She was an avid reader, and enjoyed spending time with her daughters. She loved and doted on her pet corgi Deacon.
Survivors include her husband of 42 years: Alvin W. “Al” Bowen, III of the home, daughters: Rachel Virginia Bowen (Charlie Mamakos) of Burlington, Rebecca Bowen Adkins (Christopher) and Mary -Vivian Bowen both of Providence Forge, VA, grandchildren: Atticus Bowen, Dante Mamakos, Maverick Adkins, Marshall Adkins, and a bonus granddaughter: Coryna Mims, mother-in-law: Brenda Bowen of Reidsville, sister-in-law: Susan Talley (John), and a brother-in-law: Kevin Bowen (Carol) of Reidsville. The family would like to thank her caregiver Ruby Smith for her care and concern.
