Calvin Wayne Spangler

Calvin “Wayne” Spangler,79, of Ruffin went to be with the Lord on Sunday, April 19, 2026, at Moses Cone Hospital in Greensboro.

Funeral Services will be conducted at 11:00 AM Wednesday, April 22, 2026, at Happy Home Church with Rev. Jerry Lankford and Rev. Dwayne Anders officiating. Burial will follow in Dan River Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery with Military Rites.

A native of Eden, NC, he was a son of the late Calvin C. and Mildred Evans Spangler and he had lived most of his life in the Happy Home Community in Rockingham Co. Wayne was a retired machinist and had worked for Cahill Manufacturing in Danville, VA for 30 years. He was a member of Happy Home Church and a US Coast Guard Veteran. In his younger years he was an avid softball player, hunter and fisherman. Wayne was also known to many as the bird man, and animal lover taking special care to rehabilitate any animal he had the ability to. He will be remembered by many for his courage and the quiet strength that carried him through life’s challenges. Wayne was preceded in death by his sister: Carolyn S. Adkins.

He is survived by his wife: Brenda Wood Spangler of the home, his son: Kevin Wayne Spangler (Stephanie) of Reidsville, his daughters: Kristi S. Bray (Jamie) of Eden and Kelly S. Self (Fred) of Reidsville, his brother: Tim Spangler (Julia) of Reidsville, his grandchildren: Mallorie Crouse (Luke), Aiden Self & Henleigh Bray, his brothers-in-law: Ronnie Adkins of Eden and Mark Wood (Charlie) of Reidsville, his sister-in-law: Rita Wood Paschal (Irvin) of Reidsville and by many loving nieces and nephews.

The family will see friends from 6:00 PM till 8:00 PM Tuesday, April 21, 2026 at Happy Home Church 6941 NC Hwy 700 Ruffin, NC 27326 and memorials may be made to the church.
