Billy Ray Arthur

Billy Ray Arthur, 89, went to be with the Lord on Sunday, May 10, 2026, at the home of his son.

Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 PM Wednesday, May 13, 2026, in Citty Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Doug Bray and Rev. Johnny Warf officiating.  Burial will follow in Evergreen Memory Gardens.  The family will see friends from 1:00PM till 2:00PM Wednesday, May 13, 2026. at Citty Funeral Home and at other times at the home of his granddaughter:  Tina Chilton 3415 Grooms Rd.  Reidsville, NC  27320.

A native of Beckley, WV, he was a son of the late James F. and Pauline Payne Arthur and he had lived in Rockingham Co. most of his life.  Billy was the retired Vice President of Arthur’s Trucking Inc. and prior to that he was a driver for Burton Lines.  He was a member of Rock of Ages Baptist Church, a US Army Veteran and he loved  working on lawnmowers and other equipment.  Billy loved Blue Grass Music, he loved dogs and he always wanted to help others.  Billy was preceded in death by his parents, his wife:  Shelby Warf Arthur, his brothers:  James, Eugene and Bobby Arthur and his grandsons: Mikey Arthur and Billy Bob Arthur.

Surviving are his sons:  Ricky Arthur (Vanessa) of Madison and Kenneth Darrel Arthur of Reidsville, his brother:  Johnny Arthur (Carolyn) of Blackstone, VA, his sister:  Nancy Arthur Toney of Reidsville, grandchildren:  Tina Chilton, Ricky Martin, Brandi Smith, and Ashley Arthur and 13 great grandchildren.   Citty Funeral Home is assisting the Arthur family.
