Billie Havens Cox

Billie Havens Cox, 91, formerly of Ruffin, went to be with the Lord Saturday November 18, 2023 at UNC Rehabilitation and Nursing Center in Eden, NC. Funeral services will be conducted 2:00 P.M. Wednesday November 22, 2023 at Cornerstone Community Church with Rev. Josh Ellis officiating. Burial will be in Mt. Carmel Church Cemetery. The family will see friends 1:00 to 2:00 P.M. Wednesday November 22, 2023 at the church before the service and at other times will be at the home of her son Bart Cox 160 White Oak Court, Eden, NC. A native of Jackson County, MS, she was a daughter of the late Alfred “Velt” and Lula Flurry Havens and had lived most of her life in Rockingham County. She was a former telephone operator and later worked at the Evangelical Methodist Church Daycare. She enjoyed sewing and helping her husband and family on the farm. Billie was preceded in death by her husband: Fred Milton Cox, and four sisters: Jean Ryan, Bet Roberts, Barbara Bell, and Ruth Reed. Survivors include her sons: Britt Cox and wife Janeice of Pelham and Bart Cox and wife Patricia of Eden, grandchildren: C.W. Cox (Kelly), Cody Cox (Niki) and Josh Cox (Jamie Cobb), great grandchildren: Dallas Cox, Alex Cox, Chloe Cox, Callie Cox, Damon Cox and special friends: Jim and Dottie Meacher of Lumberton.
